Ivys Selected for DOE-Funded Program to Develop MD/HD H2 Fueling Technologies

Ivys Energy Solutions is pleased to announce the selection of its “Responsive Wide-Range Dispensing Control for Medium and Heavy Duty Hydrogen Fueling” project to move forward as part of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Hydrogen Program’s latest round of funding to advance the nation’s clean hydrogen strategy.

In this project, Ivys will advance its unique fast-response hydrogen dispensing flow control system, already used in commercial stations in the U.S. and Australia, as well as other key hydrogen fueling technologies, to meet the stringent needs of high-speed hydrogen fueling for medium and heavy duty vehicles. In addition, Ivys will enhance and demonstrate its patented wireless vehicle-to-station bidirectional communications technology to enable advanced fueling protocols and techniques. These cutting-edge technologies will be tested at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in full scale MD/HD hydrogen fueling to demonstrate their readiness for the next frontiers of clean mobility.

Ivys and SimpleFuel Win $1M DOE H-Prize

SF_with_Tuscon_v3.jpg

Ivys Energy Solutions and its partners McPhy Energy North America and PDC Machines, as the SimpleFuel team, are the winners of the U.S. Department of Energy’s $1 million H2 Refuel H-Prize Competition. The goal of the competition was to develop a safe, affordable, readily deployable hydrogen refueling appliance for fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).

During the competition, Ivys and partners designed, built and tested the novel SimpleFuel hydrogen refueling appliance, which is a complete 700 bar hydrogen refueling solution in a compact and readily deployable package. The SimpleFuel prototype generated and dispensed over 180 kg of fuel cell quality hydrogen during the three month test period (enough for over 10,000 miles of FCEV travel), and is being used to fuel a Hyundai Tucson FCEV.
